Bill of Rights

The first amendment in the Bill of Rights guarantees basic freedoms to the citizens of America. These freedoms include freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of petition, and freedom of speech. The next amendment is about rights of states. All US sates have the right to maintain a militia, and the citizens have the right to bear arms. Another amendment protects people against "unreasonable" seizures and searches. The next amendment guarantees people the right to a speedy, public trial by any impartial jury. Another amendment assures the right to a jury trial in cases involving the common law. The next amendment provides that people's rights are not restricted to those specified in the first eight amendments. The last amendment assures some essential rights to citizens. It states that citizens have the right to not be deprived of "life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."  I think the two amendments that are the most necessary for a democracy are the one that guarantees basic freedoms, and the one that guarantees the right to a speedy trial. The two rights that i could live without are the rights of states, and the amendment that makes sure people's rights aren't restricted.
